Yesterday (February 28) the 888poker LIVE Bucharest festival kicked off with the first of nine-value packed tournaments. Even though it cost only €230 to enter, at least €50,000 will be won during the Opening Event.

The Opening Event will be followed by the eagerly awaited and amazing Main Event tournament which will cost £888 to buy into. Players in the Main Event are still vying for a piece of the huge €288,000 guaranteed prize pool. Furthermore, a good number of the Team 888 members will be participating in the Main Event alongside some of the biggest names in poker.

Also, the 888poker LIVE Bucharest Main Event will see some of the biggest Romanian poker stars take to the tables and try to use the home field advantage to cash in. The Global Poker Index ranks Vlad Darie, Florian Duta, Mihai Niste and Alexandru Papazian first through fourth in Romania. All four are expected to turn up to the JW Marriot Hotel by the time the Main Event starts.

The winner of the Main Event, will receive a World Series of Poker (WSOP) Vegas Crazy 888s package worth $2,700 in addition to the top prize money. Also, the winner of the leader of the lady’s event will get an 888poker LIVE Barcelona package valued at $1,800.

Interestingly, men will be allowed to participate in the ladies event but there is a catch – this will leave a bit of a dent in the men’s pockets since the buy-in for male players in the ladies’ event will be €4,500 instead of the standard €60 that is paid by the female poker players.

During the High Roller tournament and Main Event, players will play with a 30-second shot clock being instituted after a successful test at the 888poker LIVE London Kickoff. Each and every player playing at the High Roller tournament and Main Event will thus have 30-seconds to act. Fortunately, though, in case a player faces a particularly tough decision during the games, it is possible to use an extended time chip, but it can only be used twice in a day.
