Barstool Sportsbook Coming to Pennsylvania Soon

Penn National Gaming, one of the most popular casino and entertainment operators in Pennsylvania is preparing to bring the first East Coast Barstool Sportsbook and bar. The operator plans to have this at its Hollywood Casino York, a mini-casino development that it will be launching later this year. Needless to say, this will be a pretty solid step up for the company as it moves forward with its plans to become the leading casino operator in the Keystone State.

As it turns out, bringing Barstool to the Keystone State was always Penn National Gaming’s plan from the start – the company bought about a third of Barstool in late 2020. Already, Barstool has established a pretty strong presence in the state through its mobile sports betting offerings. These should make its entry into the retail space much easier as bettors in the state will certainly be familiar with the brand.

A Huge Competitive Advantage

Perhaps the biggest selling point of Barstool Sportsbook’s operation is its presence in many other states across the United States. The massive following that it has amassed makes it a very valuable investment for Penn National. In Pennsylvania, particularly, Penn National Gaming is seeking to leverage the Barstool brand name to cross-sell younger players who like Barstool’s online sportsbooks and the retail sports betting offerings. This means that this group of Pennsylvanian gamers will now be able to enjoy both online and digital gaming like never before.

It will be very exciting to see how Penn National Gaming pushes through with this plan especially considering how fast the state’s gambling market has been growing. If everything goes according to plan, the Keystone State’s residents should look forward to some amazing offers in the future. For instance, Barstool in April handed out the most promos in the state and we can expect even more of these in the future.

Big Boost for Barstool Sportsbook

Pennsylvania aside, Barstool Sportsbook is also available in a few other states including Michigan and Indiana where it has been able to deliver some very impressive results. However, in Michigan, its market share seems to be shrinking quite a bit thanks to the increased competition from DraftKings, FanDuel, and BetMGM.

That said, the decision to double down on the plans for the Keystone State could help the company make up for its dwindling business in Michigan. Things could, of course, get better somewhere along the way but the companies are headed in that direction. We just have to wait and see what comes of it eventually.
