Sports bettors in the Keystone may soon have even more betting options thanks to a recent decision by the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) to approve a pair of operator licenses for BetMGM. The renowned online gaming and sports betting operator has received approval for both interactive gaming and sports betting which effectively gives it the green light to tap into the state’s very lucrative gaming market.

BetMGM which is owned and operated by MGM Resorts and GVC Holdings has been looking into Pennsylvania’s online gambling market for quite some time. The operator first applied for a pair of licenses in the state back in January 2019. The gaming control board has since certified the company as a qualified gaming entity or QGE which means that it will be allowed to offers online casino games and it will be able to do so without having to partner up with any local operators.

When it comes to sports betting, on the other hand, the company will only be able to operate a sportsbook once it finds a suitable local partner. There is already a total of eight online sportsbooks in the state which means that BetMGM has rather limited choices as far as picking a suitable gaming partner is concerned.

Our bets are, however, on The Cordish Companies-owned Live! Hotel and Casino. Others have speculated that Lady Luck Nemacolin also stands a pretty good chance of turning out to be BetMGM’s local gaming partner. These remain to be mere speculations at this point but hopefully, things will be cleared up soon.

The Tennessee Launch

BetMGM has been eyeing several states across the country and it is aggressively pursuing those growth plans just like it is doing in Pennsylvania. Tennessee is one of the states where the gaming operator has been making some pretty huge strides.

On November 1, BetMGM went live in Tennessee with its mobile sports betting app and players can download it on both iOS and Android devices. Sports bettors in the state will also be able to access the sportsbook on the web at www.betmgm.com.

“We’ve been eagerly working with regulators in Tennessee to make this momentous launch a possibility and look forward to introducing the state’s passionate fan bases to the excitement of betting on sports with BetMGM.”

BetMGM CEO Adam Greenblatt.

One of the amazing things that Tennessee sports bettors can look forward to is all thanks to the sports betting operator’s integration with MGM Resorts’ lucrative M life Rewards program. This means that the bettors will be able to translate their online gameplay into exquisite experiences at several affiliated land-based casino resorts.
