FanDuel Online Sports Betting Goes Live in Pennsylvania

Renowned daily fantasy sports betting operator FanDuel has recently become the fourth to go live with sports betting operations in the Keystone State. This move comes after a successful test phase that was overseen by the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) which further proves that the operator has already got a hang of what the industry is all about. In fact, FanDuel has already proven itself in the neighboring state of New Jersey where it is the leading sports betting provider.

FanDuel is hoping to make just as much of an impact as it has done in New Jersey in the Keystone State. In just a little of a year, the company has managed to make its way to the top of the local market – it first began to offer online and mobile sports betting shortly after the United States Supreme Court struck down PASPA in May 2014.

Its plans for the Pennsylvanian gambling market include such initiatives as an omnichannel marketing campaign. This marketing campaign will involve influencer marketing, social media promotions, outdoor advertising, sports talk radio partnerships as well as a new TV spot among other things.

“We’re leveraging our expertise in creating world-class fantasy and sports betting experiences to build the best online sports betting platform in the state of Pennsylvania,” FanDuel Group Chief Marketing Officer Mike Raffensperger said.

The FanDuel sportsbook which went live on Tuesday, July 30, is a partnership between the FanDuel Group, Boyd Gaming and Pennsylvania’s Valley Forge Casino Resort. In addition to that, IGT’s PlayDigital has been powering the platform – it enables the players to place pre-match and in-game wagers over the counter, at self-service kiosks as well as on the mobile app.

The iOS App

Speaking of mobile apps, the FanDuel sportsbook is the first and currently, the only online sports betting operator to offer a dedicated iOS app. Things got a little complicated earlier this year when Apple implemented certain changes to its App Store guidelines – gambling apps are now only allowed to the Apple App Store if they are native to the platform, that is, their services should not be distributed through HTML5.

FandDuel’s new iOS sports betting app will have iPhone users very excited as it packs a ton of features. For instance, the players can look forward to a ton of features including prop bets, points spreads, round robins, teasers, money lines and parlays among other things.

The very fact that it is the only sportsbook with a native iOS app gives FanDuel an edge over the other three operational online sportsbooks. Still, this is great news for Pennsylvanian sports gamblers as they have even more options to choose from.
