Update on

Over the past few months, renowned gambling and entertainment operator Kindred Group has been working very hard to achieve its expansion goals in the United States. The company’s entry into the country’s thriving gambling sector has been quite successful and it is continuing to push through with more plans.

Kindred partnered with Penn National Gaming, one of the most popular casino brands in the United States, and together the two companies are making some pretty big moves in the United States. Most recently, the two have extended their partnership deal as they seek to gain access to the gambling markets in Illinois and Ohio.

“Extending our footprint in the US by establishing our brand in two key states like Illinois and Ohio is very exciting for us. We continue our journey in what we believe will become the largest gambling market in the world.”

Kindred US senior vice president Manuel Stan.

As it stands, online sports betting has been legalized in Illinois but Ohio is still lagging behind in that sector. Online casino gambling is still in the works in both states – a bit of progress has been made. Still, it seems that the Kindred Group and Penn National are confident in the potential of those markets. In Ohio, for instance, Kindred plans to operate through its Unibet brand.

It will certainly take a bit of time before all that becomes a reality but the companies are probably more than willing to be patient enough to wait. Moreover, they have already implemented some projects as partners in a number of states where either online gambling or online sports betting has been legalized. Some of these states include Indiana, New Jersey, Iowa, and Pennsylvania.

A Bit of Competition

While Kindred Group has inked a pretty strong partnership with Penn National Gaming, the latter is still pursuing its own offerings. In Pennsylvania, Penn National Gaming has recently announced that it will be debuting its long-awaited Barstool Sportsbook app.

Set to go live on September 15, the sports betting app will go through a two-day testing phase that the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB). If everything goes according to plan, the app will be fully available to iOS and Android device users across the state from September 18.

This new sports betting app will be competing with Kindred’s Unibet brand which has also done a pretty good job when it comes to taking advantage of the growing sports betting market in the Keystone State. Thankfully, that competition means that bettors in the state will now have even more options to choose from.
