It has been a long time coming but Pennsylvanian sports betting fans are now going to be able to place bets online. This news came on Tuesday, May 28 when the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board gave Philadelphia’s SugarHouse Casino the green light to launch its online sports betting offering making is the very first casino operator to venture into the state’s budding and very lucrative sports betting market.

The SugarHouse Casino sports betting product is now available albeit in a live testing mode that will be running as follows:

  • Tuesday, May 28: 4 p.m. to midnight
  • Wednesday, May 29: 2 p.m. to midnight
  • Thursday, May 30: noon to midnight

Now, this three-day testing period will determine whether the online casino gets another green light from the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) to offer its services 24/7. As it stands, there is a very high likelihood that it will successfully pass the test as it has been preparing for a while now.

Available for a Wide Range of Devices

As it stands, players who own Android phones are the only ones who will be able to access the sports betting app directly from SugarHouse website. Fortunately, online sports bettors in the state can still access the desktop version of the online sports betting platform from a wide range of devices including computers, tablets, and both iOS & Android-powered mobile devices. While the lack of an iPhone app at this stage maybe disappointing the range of devices supported by the web-based version of the platform is certainly very impressive.

Signing up on the online sports betting is also pretty easy especially for the player who already have accounts on the New Jersey version of PlaySugarHouse – they will be able to use the same details to express sign up for the SugarHouse online casino in the Keystone State. Still, the players will need a second account specifically for the state and payment processing. This is because gaming operators are prohibited from sharing account information across state lines as a result of the recent reinterpretation of the 1961 Wire Act by the United States Department of Justice.

The Features

As expected, the online gaming platform did its homework and at launch has integrated some of the most popular payment options such as Visa, Mastercard, Discover, SugarHouse Prepaid Card, and Cash at SugarHouse Casino cage. While this may seem to be a very small number, these options are some of the most robust and popular ones in the market. Moreover, SugarHouse online casino is certainly working on increasing the number of payment options on offer and players may finally get to enjoy these when the casino is approved for full-time operation after the three-day test period comes to an end.

A number of other features and the inclusion of odds on more sporting activities will also be coming to the online gambling platform in the next few weeks – hopefully, that is – and they are certainly worth the wait.
