Parx Casino Shippensburg is celebrating its third year in Pennsylvania’s casino landscape by putting money back where it matters most: the local community. The casino marked the milestone with a special anniversary luncheon on Friday, January 16, awarding $100,000 in community impact donations to organizations across the Shippensburg region.

Since opening its doors, Parx Casino Shippensburg has now contributed $589,000 to local charities and nonprofits, reinforcing its position as more than just a gaming destination for Central Pennsylvania players.

Sixteen Central Pennsylvania Organizations Receive Funding

This year’s donations went to 16 local charities and community groups, including emergency services, nonprofit organizations, and community development initiatives. Recipients included Shippensburg EMS, Vigilant Hose Company, West End Fire & Rescue, the Shippensburg Police Foundation, Coy Public Library of Shippensburg, Cumberland Valley Community Cares, Wheels for Women, and several other organizations working directly with residents across the region.

The funding supports a wide range of services, from first responders and libraries to food outreach and downtown revitalization efforts, underscoring how casino-backed funding continues to flow beyond the gaming floor.

$1 Million Community Commitment in the Long Term

Parx Casino Shippensburg’s latest donations are part of a $1 million pledge spread over ten years, designed to support the surrounding community both before and after the casino’s launch. With more than half of that commitment already delivered, Parx continues to tie its Pennsylvania casino success directly to local investment.

Newly elected Shippensburg Mayor Shaun Rogers addressed attendees, calling Parx Casino a key community partner and highlighting the strength of local organizations represented at the event. Reflecting on his roots in Shippensburg and his return home after military service, Rogers emphasized the importance of unity and long-term collaboration between businesses and residents.

Casino General Manager John Marshall also spoke during the event, reaffirming Parx Casino Shippensburg’s ongoing commitment to community engagement and regional support. The other officials were also quite confident about that commitment, with Director of Diversity and Community Development Ron Davis noting that sharing success with the community remains a core focus of the brand. The Shippensburg Area Chamber of Commerce also praised Parx for its continued support of local nonprofits, scholarships, and events that strengthen the state’s dynamic and expanding market.
