Penn National Fast Tracks Plans for Hollywood Casino York’s Launch

Penn National Gaming’s Hollywood Casino York has been one of the most anticipated developments in the Keystone State. Initially set to open its doors sometime in 2020, the operation was suffered a major setback just like many other businesses across the state due to the coronavirus pandemic. Thankfully, as things begin to change for the better, the launch of the casino is now also back on track.

The casino which is going to be occupying York Galleria in Springettsbury Township has now had its opening advanced to August 2021. Everything seems to be shaping up well for those plans with the only milestone remaining is regulatory approval.

When it eventually goes live, the casino will be catering to customers from the region – the main target seems to be bettors from south-central Pennsylvania and Northern Maryland. Even though it is a Category 4 mini-casino, the property’s development costs were a whopping $120 million. Penn National Gaming managed to fit Hollywood York Casino with 500 slot machines and 20 table games with that budget. However, these numbers could rise even more to 750 and 40 respectively.

In addition to the gaming facilities, the roughly 80,000 square foot property will also include a restaurant bar, a coffee venue, a grab-and-go eatery as well as an entertainment lounge. To top it all off, Hollywood Casino York could also soon feature a sportsbook (Barstool is a prime candidate for this) and a racebook.

Career Center Now Open

As part of its plans to launch the new mini-casino, Penn National Gaming has recently opened a career center specifically for Hollywood Casino York. The company began with accepting applications from residents of York County and neighboring communities. It will be conducting interviews for several different jobs that will become available when the casino launches. As it stands, the career center is open during weekdays from 10:30 am to 5:30 pm and is accessible here.

“Whether you prefer being at the center of it all or working behind the scenes, there’s a role for everyone at Hollywood Casino York. As a continuously growing company with more than 40 properties nationwide, team members with a commitment to customer service can benefit from opportunities for career growth at any of our facilities throughout the country.”

Erin Chamberlin, Senior Vice President of Regional Operations for Penn National.

This alone is one of the reasons why the mini-casino has a very high chance of receiving the necessary approval. These job opportunities are already a great way of giving back to the community that will be hosting the gaming and entertainment facility.
