A lot of things are picking up pace in the Keystone State as efforts to reopen continue to ramp up. Lots of measures have been put in place to ensure smooth and safe operations despite the ongoing pandemic. One of the things that were temporarily halted back in March as part of the efforts to contain the spread of the COVDI-19 pandemic was the construction of Penn National Gaming’s (PNG) mini-casino in Springettsbury Township, Pennsylvania.
While construction projects could continue during the pandemic, Penn National Gaming decided not to proceed with the construction of the York County-based mini-casino, at least until everything got better. However, the company’s management has finally decided to go forward with the project. Already workers have reported to the York Galleria Mall and they will be there for the next several months.
For this project, Penn National will be spending a whopping $120 million which, in this case, is inclusive of both the licensing and construction expenses. If everything goes according to plan, the new Category 4 satellite casino will probably go live in the second half of 2021. Speaking on the new development, Jeff Morris, Penn Nation Gaming’s vice president of public affairs, and government relations, the company will release more details on the casino project to the public soon.
Perhaps we will also get more information about Penn National’s other projects in the Keystone State. These include another Category 4 satellite casino that the gaming and entertainment operator is currently constructing in Morgantown along the Pennsylvania Turnpike.
Off-State Developments
Pennsylvania is not the only place where Penn National has been extending its footprint. The company has also recently debuted its first retail Barstool Sportsbook at the Ameristar Casino Resort Spa Black Hawk in Black Hawk, Colorado. This marks a pretty huge forward for the gaming and entertainment operator.

Customers of the casino will be treated to a world-class experience offered by the state-of-the-art sportsbook. The sports betting facility will feature a new betting counter, a large 24′ by 12′ video wall as well as a large odds board and several high definitions televisions.
Thankfully, Penn Nation’s customers can look forward to getting access to the same experience once the sportsbook offering extends to even more states.
