Pennsylvania has been working very hard towards achieving a sustainable and regulated online gambling field. The state hopes to achieve this by designing a number of suitable regulatory measures that will not only ensure that the state as whole benefits from the gambling industry but also make sure that players are treated to nothing but the most attractive offerings. Naturally, Pennsylvania intends to provide its gambling market with services from popular and preferred brands a process that the state kicked off on Monday when the application process for the state’s Interactive Gaming Certificates begun.
The official launch of online gambling in Pennsylvania has been anticipated ever since discussions on the same begun almost a year ago. Many people agree that the industry certainly has the potential of changing the Keystone state’s financial situation. Coupled with the introduction of mini-casino licensing for ten new satellite locations, online gaming is expected to have a significant impact on the community as well as the gambling industry.
Initially, the legalization of online gambling in October 2017 was an attempt to diversify the industry’s offerings but it was landmark ruling that made Pennsylvania the fourth state in the United States to legalize online gambling to both its residents and guests.
More on the Licensing Process
There are currently 13 all-inclusive licenses that are up for grabs. All the land-based casino developers operating in Pennsylvania are allowed to apply for these licenses – since the application process is still at the initial stage, only companies that are licensed, particularly by Pennsylvania, have the right to apply for the licenses.
Each of the participants or applicants will have as many as 90 days to file a petition for any of the online gaming licenses. However, the operators must be willing to part with $10 million for each of the licenses. As far as taxes go, the amounts that have been established for the online filed will match the amount that casinos developers are currently obliged to pay. Also, the interested parties will be given 30 more days for the acquisition of more specific license in any of the available categories. All this will be done before the first round of applications come to a close on August 14.
