The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) has just published the gaming revenue data for July, which shows a notable rise in comparison to July of the previous year. According to the findings of the survey, Pennsylvania’s gaming industry saw modest year-over-year growth. In July 2022, the state’s gaming authority reported $429.07 million in earnings from all types of gambling, up 1.28 percent from the previous July.

In sum, this means that in July 2022, $177.1 million in tax revenue was collected from all gambling and fantasy sports combined. When compared to the total amount of $174.7 million collected in taxes during the month of July 2021, the total amount collected during July of this year was slightly higher, having climbed by 1.37%.

How the Casino Operators Faired

Only six out of the total 17 operators reported an increase in their income for the previous month. The Hollywood Casino Morgantown only brought in $570,794 in revenue during the month of July last year. The venue’s income hit a record high of $6.62 million in July of this year.

Earnings were up at Valley Forge Casino Resort in the previous month as well. This July, the resort’s revenue was $41.4 million, up from $35.3 million a year before. In a similar vein, Wind Creek Bethlehem’s revenue in July grew to $50 million, representing a nearly 14% rise over the previous month.

Earnings at the Meadows and Penn National Hollywood casinos increased by 6.25 and 4 percent, respectively, to $22 and $55.8 million. Comparatively, Harrah’s Philadelphia had a rise in revenue of less than 1%, to $18.4 million, in July, while Parx Casino saw a drop of over 12%, to $56.4 million.

Revenue By Game Type

The report indicates that sports betting and online slot machines had a pretty successful month in July. These have been reporting remarkable growth rates for quite some time now. Nonetheless, other industries managed to stay strong as well. A breakdown of everything is provided in the table below.
