The Keystone State’s retail sports betting market recently grew bigger thanks to the launch of two new sportsbooks. The sportsbooks which went live on Thursday, August 8, were launched just in time for the NFL preseason which implies that the state is now on full throttle in as far as the sports betting industry is concerned. This comes as no surprise since the state has been hard at work trying to actualize its gambling expansion plans with sports betting, satellite casinos, and online gaming being some of the main points of focus.

Parx Casino in Bensalem was the first one to go live with its $10 million sportsbook. This was, however, not the first time that the casino operator is going live with its sports betting offering. In fact, it was the fourth state to go live with a sports betting operation following the landmark Supreme Court ruling that abolished PASPA and lifted the federal ban on sports betting. In January, Parx Casino unveiled a temporary sportsbook as it worked on the development of a permanent sportsbook. This permanent sportsbook is finally complete and the gaming operator believes that it is “the best sportsbook in the country” which might actually be the case considering how much Parx Casino spent on it. It will also further complement the recent launch of the operator’s native iOS online sports betting app and its real money online casino.

Also launched on August 8 was Presque Isle Downs & Casino’s BetAmerica Sportsbook which features a total of 50 kiosks. 25 of these kiosks are located in the new sportsbook are at the casino floor while the remaining 25 have been distributed across other areas of the entertainment facility including the Hub center bar, Bar 90, the casino’s High-Limit Room and in the non-smoking area. This will be the very first time that BetAmerica will be entering the Pennsylvanian sports betting market following its acquisition by Churchill Downs Incorporated earlier this year.

Stadium Casino LLC Applies for Pa. Sports Betting Certificate

As more licensed sportsbooks continue to go live, more of the state’s gambling operators are making moves to be a part of the new and lucrative market. Stadium Casino recently filed for a $10 million permit making it the eleventh casino in the state to file such an application.

The operator which has plans to open up a casino in Philadelphia next years revealed that it has plans for a $700 million casino at the upcoming Live! Casino & Hotel Philadelphia and this will include a sportsbook. Stadium Casino also has plans for online sports betting, another newly launched gaming vertical in the state.
