In a bold move, PokerStars has inked a sponsorship deal with the Philadelphia Flyers, marking the first time an online poker brand has collaborated with the iconic NHL team. This partnership brings many benefits for Flyers fans and PokerStars players alike while solidifying the brand’s visibility in Pennsylvania’s competitive gaming market.

Exclusive Fan Rewards and Opportunities

The collaboration offers PokerStars players exciting chances to win Flyers game tickets and exclusive signed memorabilia through special poker tournaments hosted on PokerStars and PokerStars Casino platforms. With these rewards, PokerStars is doubling down on fan engagement by integrating hockey enthusiasm into its online gaming experience.

The deal also brings PokerStars branding to life for Flyers supporters, with prominent advertisements throughout the Wells Fargo Center during home games and placements on NBC Sports Philadelphia broadcasts. These efforts aim to resonate with the Flyers’ passionate fanbase, creating a seamless connection between sports and gaming.

Todd Glickman, Comcast Spectacor Chief Revenue Officer, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, highlighting the shared commitment to innovation and community engagement. He noted that PokerStars’ dedication to delivering unique rewards aligns perfectly with the Flyers’ goal of enhancing their fan experience.

A Strategic Move for PokerStars

This is not PokerStars’ first foray into sports partnerships. The brand previously collaborated with teams like the Philadelphia 76ers, Detroit Red Wings, Toronto Maple Leafs, and Toronto Raptors, leveraging sports alliances to strengthen its presence across North America.

The Flyers deal comes at a pivotal moment for PokerStars as Pennsylvania moves closer to joining the Multi-State Internet Gaming Agreement (MSIGA). Currently, PokerStars pools players from Michigan and New Jersey, but adding Pennsylvania to the fold could significantly expand player bases and prize pools, creating more excitement for online poker.

Even Rob Battista, PokerStars North America’s Senior Director of Commercial, acknowledged the Flyers’ passionate fanbase and was excited about offering unique tournaments and rewards to gaming communities in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

The Flyers’ decision to partner with PokerStars comes as Pennsylvania prepares to join MSIGA, a development that would enable larger player pools and higher prize money for online poker. Gov. Josh Shapiro recently directed the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board to begin negotiations, signaling progress toward this multi-state agreement.

Blurring the Line Between Sports and Gaming

This move highlights the evolving relationship between professional sports and online gaming. By integrating branded fan experiences into hockey’s fast-paced world, PokerStars and the Flyers are setting a new standard for how gaming operators and sports franchises can engage their shared audiences
