The Pennsylvania Lottery is using March’s Problem Gambling Awareness Month to highlight the tools and support services available to help players maintain balanced gaming habits. The national campaign encourages industry stakeholders and public agencies to raise awareness of gambling-related harms while promoting safer play. Across social media, the initiative is also being recognized through the hashtag #PGAM2026.

Lottery officials say the campaign serves as a reminder that lottery games are about entertainment and players should indulge responsibly. Educational materials and responsible play messaging appear across retail locations, advertising, digital channels, and the Lottery’s official website to ensure players can easily access guidance and support resources.

Evolving Tools for Healthy Gaming Habits

Responsible gaming tools remain a key part of the lottery’s player protection approach. Through its Healthy Playprogram, players get nudges to stay within personal budgets, understand the odds of winning, and avoid chasing losses. The program also promotes taking breaks when gaming stops being enjoyable and ensuring lottery products remain inaccessible to children.

Players who participate in online lottery games can access account management tools designed to support balanced play. These features allow users to set spending limits, activate temporary cool-off periods, and choose self-exclusion options lasting six months, one year, or five years. A short self-assessment survey is also available to help players evaluate their gaming habits and determine whether adjustments are necessary.

Making Awareness an Element of Support

The Pennsylvania Lottery works closely with the Council on Compulsive Gambling of Pennsylvania to connect players and families with education, counseling, and support services. The organization provides guidance on recognizing early warning signs of problem gambling and offers resources such as self-help meetings and professional counseling referrals.

Players seeking immediate support can contact the Pennsylvania Problem Gambling Helpline at 1-800-GAMBLER, which connects callers with trained specialists who provide confidential advice and treatment referrals.

Public outreach during the campaign also includes collaboration with state agencies such as the Pennsylvania Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs and the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board. Representatives from these organizations will host an informational table at the Pennsylvania State Capitol on March 25, where visitors can learn more about responsible gaming resources and ask questions about available support services.

Beyond awareness campaigns, the Pennsylvania Lottery holds responsible gambling certifications from the World Lottery Association and the National Council on Problem Gambling, part of the ongoing commitment to player protection and safer gaming practices.
