Despite all the setbacks that it has had to face, the Keystone State’s gaming market continues to grow. Its sports betting sector has been one of the most successful with gamers in the state being able to choose from a wide range of great gaming options. The number of sports betting options is about to get even bigger thanks to the approval of Wind Creek Bethlehem casino and Betfred’s sports betting bid.

If everything falls into place, in a few months Pennsylvania’s sports betting sector will be launching its tenth online sports betting site as well as its fourteenth land-based sportsbook. For now, the plans for the new offerings are looking up after the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board gave the two companies the green light to proceed with their plans.

Speaking after receiving the PGCB approval, Kathy McCracken, the Wind Creek casino’s general manager pointed out that construction of the retail sportsbook should start in August or thereabout and be complete in November. That will certainly be a long time to wait but, fortunately, the online sportsbook is reportedly going to launch earlier than the retail sportsbook.

That said, a testing phase of the online sportsbook should begin soon – this will, of course, be overseen by the state gaming control board. Since Scientific Games will be the one powering the online sports betting site, there are some pretty high hopes for the offering. In fact, this might just give Betfred and Wind Creek Bethlehem the edge they need to compete favorably with other sports betting service providers in the Keystone State.

More Online Sports Betting Platforms on the Horizon

2020 has been a very troubling year this far particularly because of the pandemic and all of the havoc it has unleashed upon the economy. Many retail betting facilities have begun to reopen in Pennsylvania – this includes Wind Creek Bethlehem casino and other popular entertainment brands. Online gaming has been going strong though and there are still more plans to expand the sector.

Betfred’s and Wind Creek’s sports betting offering aside, there are plans underway for the launch of two more online sportsbooks in the Keystone State. National Gaming’s Hollywood Casino and the future Philadelphia Live! Casino & Hotel, two of the state’s gaming operations, are reportedly making plans to bring even more sports betting options to Pennsylvanians.

While there are currently no sporting activities going on, there is a lot of optimism regarding the return of these activities. Lots of people in both Pennsylvania and other parts of the country are looking forward to this and once sporting activities begin again, there should be more than enough sports betting options for them.
